Village Downs CFC
Sunday, 30th october. Hundreds of football fans turned out to the Sandy Point grounds to watch newly-promoted Conaree battle the reigning champions Village Superstars. Village provided heavy pressure throughout the majority of the game earning 8 corners in the first-half alone. CFC was kept quiet, offensively, with the exception of a promising run from Bogman down the right flank and a cross that almost baffled the Village defense. Neither team could finish, however, and the score remained 0-0 as the teams entered the dressing room.
Conaree came out in the second half with a little more composure, and began to even posession of the, up until then, one-sided match. A spark was created when Shadow came in off the bench in the 55th minute to hole up the defensive-midfield but still no real threat of scoring a goal. It wasn't until the 81st minute that Village finally drew first blood when Ivan Hodges finished a well-timed cross taking away Conaree's confidence. At full-time the scoreboard read 1-0 to the villagers. The referee did well to keep things under control but Conaree was on the receiving end of 6 yellows to Livvie, Monassa, Dell, Ryan, Bogman and Chelston. Conaree's next match is agains Monkey Hill on Saturday 4:00.
